Explanation
In this comic, a mother is showing her young child a diagram or poster of a pregnant woman, explaining that "there's a little girl inside her mama's tummy." The caption at the bottom reads: "If we didn't go to sleep on time, Mom would threaten to eat us." This delivers the punchline by revealing the child's hilariously wrong takeaway from the biology lesson. Rather than understanding that babies grow inside their mothers during pregnancy, the child has concluded that the baby is inside the mother because the mother ate the child. This leads to the terrifying (to a child) logical conclusion that misbehaving could result in being eaten.
The votey (bonus panel) escalates the misunderstanding further, showing a child looking at the pregnancy diagram and crying out "Help! Help! It hurts so much!" -- as if the child in the womb is a victim who was eaten and is now trapped inside. This extends the joke by showing the child now projecting their fear onto the unborn baby, imagining the fetus as someone who has been consumed and is suffering inside the mother's stomach.
